Chats With Clients #1
Last week I had a client that was a cute little girl who was needing a trim. She was probably about 6 or 7 years old. I was asking her questions and conversing with her about school, siblings, hobbies etc. Then she asked me "what did you wanna be when you grew up?" I kinda laughed a little and thought, how cute. Then when I thought about it; I told her "well you know what?? I wanted to be a hairstylist!" She looked at me and had the biggest smile on her face. She looked so pleased with my answer. She told me "wow! that is so cool!" It was a touching moment for me to be able to tell her that I am doing exactly what I dreamed of when I was her age. So I asked her what she wants to be when she grows up and she told me she wants to be a horse back rider. I told her wow! that would be such a fun job! and asked, "Have you ever ridden a horse?" and she said "no." I just giggled a little and thought how adorable it was for her to dream big... so I told her "Well if you REALLY want to be that then go for it! and I'm sure if you put your mind to it you can do it!" It was such a cool experience for me to be able to tell her that. How accomplished I felt! I love my job and its when things like this happen that keep me motivated and pleased with the path I have taken in life.
Thanks so much to my parents for helping me pull off those things and teaching me to put my mind to something and setting those goals to achieve.
So I encourage you to always remember those things that you love and want to do. Write down your goals and work hard, once accomplished is so rewarding to look back and know that all the hard work payed off. A quote that my Dad once told me was
" It's only a dream until you write it down, then it becomes a goal."
