It was summer of 2013 when we first met. I was down south with my family visiting the Romero's for Jake's homecoming talk from his mission. After Jake's talk on Sunday, us girls were sitting there talking and I spotted a really hott guy standing in the circle of dudes talking with Jake, I leaned over and asked Hailey, 'who is that guy standing next to Kyle??' She told me that was Sam 'Kyle's friend we wanna set you up with!' I was so excited that he was as cute she made him up to be when she mentioned to me the day before that there was a friend of Kyle she wanted to set me up with. We all went over for a BBQ at the Romero's house after and Kyle made sure Sam was there. I was patiently waiting for Sam to come over and introduce himself to me, but he never even did! Finally Hailey, Natalie and I went over to where 'the bros' were sitting and invited ourselves into the conversation. lol I asked who everyone was to give Sam a chance to formally introduce himself to me. He wasn't really doing much flirting yet so I was still trying to read him. We ended up all going over to Kyle's house after to get in the hot tub. That's when the flirting started (maybe because he didn't have the pressure of my Mom and sisters, Hailey's mom and sisters, who were all in on the set up, watching him lol)
We sat in the spa till 2 in the morning and he made alot of conversation where we began to find out that we had so much in common and there was a spark between us for sure. Before we left Wende (Kyle's mom, which was in on the set up too) so discreetly told Sam to take my number so that I could let someone know that I got back to my Aunt's house in Chino safely.
The next day I was at the beach with my family celebrating my Dad's b-day and Sam texted me to say that there was a group of people going to get yogurt that night and he was house sitting so we could all go back to the house to watch a movie. So of course I rushed home to get ready and go back out to Moreno Valley to see him. And come to find out, the so called 'group' was us two and Kyle and Hailey, haha! But hey, I wasn't complaining ;) We went over to the house of his friends (Patty & Jim Hatchtel) that he was house sitting for and watched a movie. Kyle and Hailey left, which we found out later they dint actually leave...they went in the back yard to spy on us! Lol. Where they witnessed our first kiss. Which I was embarrassed about later because I didn't tell anyone about our first kiss for a while because of the fact that we kissed the day after we first met.
Fun Fact: those couches that we watched the movie on and had our first kiss, we now own haha! Patty and Jim moved to Chicago and got rid of all their furniture so we got them!
So as you can guess, after that it was love.
I had plans to move with Hailey out to Utah with my other friend from home, Pari a month from then. (which is another reason why Kyle & Hailey wanted to set us up, because they both knew that we were going to be out there together) I went home after that weekend of meeting Sam and turned back around with my car packed to move to Utah. Before all caravanning to Utah, Wende had the annual beach house trip planned for everyone to go to. I was so excited but a little nervous of how the week was gonna go. If I ended up not liking the guy then I was screwed haha. But of course I fell in love with the handsome guy.
Fun fact: from that week on we were with each other everyday until Christmas break when we went home to be with our families.
We got engaged in March of 2015 and married in Sacramento temple on July 19, 2015.
Now we live in Riverside, Ca. He is a property manager and real estate agent for WSR. And I do hair for people at home and work for NEBO.
I love Sam so so so so so so so so much. I literally can not think where or who I would be without him. He is my other half. I fall in love with him time and time again.
Sometimes I think about what would've happened if I'd never met him. But I strongly believe that some way, some how I would meet him regardless of where my path in life would take me... because I can't picture me being anything other then his.
